Love vs Fear

heye all

ive been on me nutty truth campaign for a few month – getting braver and braver in singing the song

its a good song – i hope u will join

the very first vlog i ever made examined Love vs. Fear (its poorly lit and LONG – geez im long winded bi-lingually oy) but the concepts are good me think

seems we let FEAR rule us sometimes.  Gets us to do things we’d rather not have and it stops us from doing things we should have.

How i usually try to conquer my fear is to remind myself that love is the opposite of fear.

There is some good stuff going on in the v/blogsphere this week and i think we gotta shine a light on it cuz it has come from love and it has challenged fear and that is beautiful to behold.  Now in doing so we have seen some ugliness emerge – we have seen some folks attack and pull down their own masks.  This is truly hard to behold but still we stand in love and hope for justice.

ella has a vlog on examining Oralism vs. speech

jeffrey has a blog on examing the unexamined and the great stage that is our blogsphere (this one may require some context to follow – btw AWESOME pix)

shel has a vlog on cyberbullying

amy has a blog on blogging and Carol Padden getting the John D. and Catherine T. McArthur Foundation “Genuis” Award (first Deaf person to win it – KUDOS and U Go Girl)   A Deaf researcher exploring and documenting about the Deaf Culture and Natural Signed Languages

karen has a blog on civil discourse

theres more but im in a rush

there has also been some bad stuff

attacks and falsehoods

i also want to point out how those attacks are what usually prompt us to go to fear which makes us either retaliate or go silent.  It is really hard when u r attacked to respond from love.  Firm with love – return hate and falsehoods with love and truth and if u can’t?  walk away and come back another day when u can.

several good things to come out of all these multiple attacks – bam  bam  bam  (for me these sucker punches have been delivered in rapid fire the past few days but no worries) – because we seem to have some areas of agreement:

– unjustly attacking folks via their jobs or govt agencies is uncool

– resorting to threats, slander / libel, character defamation is uncool

and diminishes the attacker not the attacked

– we care – many of us are showing how much we care.  We are speaking truths and putting things on the table

– we acknowledge – we are owning up to our parts and examining our conduct while still being able to shine a light on others

– we are offering out our hands in hope – yeah sometimes they get bitten but no worries – shake it off and hug the good folks who are still standing tall and those who are just finding their feet

seriously some of you just leave me in awe

To Barb, Lee and Philantino I thank you for standing firm against b/vloggers who try to get people to contact folks employers unjustly

To all the many folks who have stuck with v/blogging to deliver good stuff despite attacks – u r my inspirations.  for those who have fought back and stood firm with truths instead of venegence  – i love u.  May we clone ya?

Some beautiful truths have been song lately (and some sad ones as well – stroll down at Karen’s place to see Barry stomping on the olive branch) – but by and large we being singing our songs of freedoms.

“Won’t you help me sing these songs of freedom….”  “One Love, One Heart.  Let’s get together and feel all right…”

commUNITY building – onward and upward!

1 2 3 leap at da sun

Thanks all

Peace,

Patti

    Hi Patty,

Thanks for pingback to my blog about Dr. Carol Padden. It is John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Fellows. Could you fix the name of MacArthur Foundation on your blog please? We must recognize the work which Dr. Padden to earn this extremely prestigious award, that is indeed a biggest honor in her career!

    Kudos!

    Patti,

I enjoyed to read your blog about love & fear.

First of all, I am tired of listen what Barry stated: “They’re using it as an excuse to shut me up however it does not stop me from distributing copies via emails to private individuals who really wanted to know the ultimate truth on these letters. I’d be glad to send you a copy as well.”

If Barry offer the copy to send you and I suggest you guys take it. Research this and use your wisdom before you can believe (strength & wisdom) instead of saying: “Okay, you don’t have to send me the copy and I believe you.” (weakness & folly)

Okay, let me go back and share about love & fear:

Do you suffer from fear or insecurity? What about the fear of lack? I have been there too. I have see their literally worried sick about so many things, including their past, and their present, what people thought about them. And because they couldn’t get their mind off of their problems, I can see them found themselves in a place of utter torment. Because they had been abused in different ways and were fearful of being hurt or taken advantage of, they became very insecure. And they spent few years trying to control everything and everyone in their life. Instead of trying to control and manipulate people, we needed to learn to trust God, pray, and believe that He would do what was best for all of us at the right time. Most of all, we needed to abide in His love.

Another major fear people face is the fear of lack. The fear that your needs won’t be met. You may be in a situation that you have never been in before, facing all kinds of new responsibilities. You may have needs that are beyond your resources and the spirit of fear is attacking you, telling you that you are not going to make it. You may feel like nobody else cares.

Every time you feel fear in your life, it’s a manifestation of the kingdom of darkness. I often say in my thoughts that fear is the “master dark spirit.” Fear brings torment, and you surely can’t enjoy life and be tormented at the same time.

Some common fears are fear of lack, death, loneliness, people, authority, commitment, heights, germs, closed-in spaces, airplanes, dogs, cats, failure, rejection, being laughed at, and even fear of being attractive. It seems that the phobias’ list is endless. If you have been afraid of something and desire to be free, the time will eventually come when you’ll have to face your fear and not run away from it. If you’re afraid of people with authority, the time will come when you’ll have to confront an authority figure and not cower in fear. I believe the words fear not simply mean don’t run from this and confront them what you stand up and believe in yourself than others.

Love is the energy of life. It is what motivates people to get up each day and keep going. Love gives life purpose and meaning. People look for fulfillment in life in different ways. Those ways may seem good at first, but eventually the unsuccessful search will leave them feeling frustrated, disappointed and empty. The only way they can find the true fulfillment they are so desperately seeking is to choose to walk in love—to actually put love into action by reaching out and loving others. They were legalistic, harsh, judgmental, rude, selfish and unforgiving—and that is only the beginning of the list. The harder they tried to walk in love, the worse they became.

Everyone in the world wants to be loved and accepted. And the love of God—that wonderful gift He freely gives us—satisfies that need. His love flows to us, and then it should flow through us to other people. And we know that because we are deeply loved by God, we can never run out of love—no matter how much we give away.

Enjoy my raining day here! =0)

Thanks for this blog, Patti. I have been sorely tempted to engage in retaliation at McConnell for his constant digs at me for a simple, human mistake. And then Shel made her vlog, and you posted this blog (with the reminder that retaliation doesn’t help much), and I have to remember to just back off and let it go. Not easy to do for a combative guy like me, especially with someone like him.

Trying to let the better angels of my nature take over here.

thank u for the soul food. it is very nice to see how connected u feel to G-d and how it guides and rewards. Love is a powerful force i agree – gandhi talked of soul force / truth force. U might want to explore that more but from what i understand it is founded on the force / power of love.

MLK Jr promoted the soul force also – it involved being firm with love and direct peaceful confrontation to oppression and injustice.

thank u again for all u shared -reminded me a bit of Maslow’s hierarchy of need. Where would u say the need and right to a fully accessibly language rest in Maslow’s hierarchy?

    Patti,

I love MLK and Gandhi’s strength and love to believe in their people just like I do believe in my deaf communities everywhere. They truly do inspired me in many ways.

Abraham Maslow developed his kind of theory. His theory accurately describes many realities of personal experiences. His famous hierarchy of needs applied deficit and being needs.

So, you can see between being then deficit. So we all need our beings instead of deficit.

    Truth, rather than dishonesty.
    Goodness, rather than evil.
    Beauty, not ugliness or vulgarity.
Unity, wholeness, and transcendence of opposites, not arbitrariness or forced choices.
Aliveness, not deadness or the mechanization of life.
    Uniqueness, not bland uniformity.
Perfection and necessity, not sloppiness, inconsistency, or accident.
    Completion, rather than incompleteness.
Justice and order, not injustice and lawlessness.
    Simplicity, not unnecessary complexity.
    Richness, not environmental impoverishment.
    Effortlessness, not strain.
    Playfulness, not grim, humorless, drudgery.
    Self-sufficiency, not dependency.
    Meaningfulness, rather than senselessness.

I truly believe this will help you to understand about your well-being as humans characters and integrity’s. It is something that tells you about others’ characters “not of because they are bad people”, but because they have not even had their basic needs taken care of! It means it is up to you to use your being or deficit needs.

    Have a great evening!

    Hi Patti —

Glad you liked my last line, but I’m hardly that original or poetic. I believe it was Abraham Lincoln who first came up with that phrase.

    Heye Don –

yep Abe is credited as having said that line (but i think i once read that it really came from somewhere else before he used it in the presidential address but i dont remember fully what i read and in a rush)

but it is one of me favorite lines and it comes to mind often so to see ya use it – ah

    thanks

    HI PopeMistress

it seems v/blogs with false accusations against people and organizations are accepted at DR/DVTV

That is the choice that has been made. Go alternative and stay clear of the muck. Don’t click unless u plan to confront with peace and love

    Don’t feed the trolls
