This week is the 130 year anniversary of the infamous ICED 1880 Milan congress that declared the incontestable superiority of speech and ushered in the reign of Oralism (natural signed languages were banned from classrooms and family rooms across the globe).
Thankfully at the 21st ICED 2010 Vancouver convention this past summer, the reign of error was formally rejected, an apology was issued, and an accord for the future endorsed.
Hopefully folks will print out the Statement of Principles and Accord for the Future http://www.iced2010.com/and distribute it, pin it up, email it, share it, and use it.
It’s really important.
Let the New Era begin!
